Ligi Ndogo invite Acakoro Academy U13,U15 and U20 to a two team Classic in celebration of this year’s Madaraka day.
Planet U15 play the first match at 1 pm followed by U13 and lastly,U19.
The highlight of the day will probably be the U13 game. The match features, collectively, more than six U13 Kenyan internationals.
Planets plucked the limelight from Acakoro, shocking them 1-0 in the the first meeting this year while curtain raising for the National team Harambee Stars v DRC. Before their reemergence, the visitors used to have a field day over the Planets, the most memorable,a 9-0 humbling at the East Africa Cup.
Ligi Ndogo U13 are yet to lose a match in Kenya inside a year.Their most recent setback, spanning more than 17 wins, was in June 2016 (1-0) in the FKF U15 league to Shofco. Their only other lose was in Italy at the Viesse Cup in the quarter finals where the Planets’ Kevin Wangaya was voted midfielder of the tournament.
Founded in 2013 Acakoro (Academy of Korogocho Football) has deep roots in the underprivileged parts of Korogocho,Kariobangi and Dandora. The program is hinged on personality development using football as an identity.Children were scouted from more than 43 primary schools in the area at the start, from a pool of more than 6000 children. The most talented were selected to form the current elite program.
Acakoro kids have so much to play for and over the short duration of the program have become an oasis in a surrounding limited in opportunity. The youth teams have wowed at home and abroad.Their U10 team overcame the likes of Bayern,Dortmund,Liverpool,Barcelona and Madrid to win the Donauean(Donawen) Cup in 2015 and 2016.
Acakoro Academy are without a doubt the best, most recognized and organized football club in the Eastern areas of Nairobi.Their style of tiki taka football is a thing of beauty.Coupled with the Planets’ explosive forward based possession brand of football, you wouldn’t want to miss the best under 13 football rivalry in the country!
